Open hearts, open minds, open doors

Ministries

During the school year, we have lot of opportunities for you to meet other students and spend some time growing in faith and getting to know one another.

Small Group Opportunities
Spring semester we will have several different small groups to choose from and people are welcome to join at any time:
  • Current Christian Controversies (Why Do I Believe That?) will meet Tuesdays at 7pm starting January 18 at the Wesley Foundation. Throughout the semester the group will look at a variety of issues about which Christians have differing opinions. We will apply our bible knowledge and our church teachings to examine why we believe what we believe around current faith issues and world events.
  • The Me I Want To Be is a small group study meeting each Sunday at 6:30pm. Based on the book by the same name, this study will guide participants through the great task and joy of becoming God's best version of ourselves. Click here to see a video about the study.
  • Four O'Clock Clubs meet Mondays or Tuesdays at 4pm in the prayer chapel at Wesley Foundation. Each group has three goals: to be a space of support and community, to grow in our knowledge of God and Jesus, and to invite others to join us in that process.
Monday's group is focusing on the basics of our faith and how we live them out.
Tuesday's group is reading Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther from the Old Testament of the Bible.

Prayer
Prayer is a vital part of our ministry. We live that out in a number of ways:

  • Our prayer group meets every Monday night in the prayer chapel at 6pm. They take time to pray for the concerns raised in worship, as well as for the campus and the world.
  • Our prayer chapel is open during the day for anyone to use.
  • Once a semester we have 24/7 prayer vigil. Our spring vigil will be February 26-March 4. To sign up go to www.eiuprays.wordpress.com.

Join us for lunch at the Union Food Court any Tuesday.

Dollar Burgers - 6:30pm Thursdays at Panther Paw

Peer = someone of the same rank, age and/or ability as you
Minister = someone who serves God and the faith community
Peer ministers are students who have answered the call to provide leadership to the Wesley Foundation. They lead a particular ministry area, provide a weekly presence in the Wesley Foundation building (office hours), and attend a weekly leadership bible study on Sunday nights.

Peer ministers serve in areas that are either a specific need in the ministry, or are a personal passion (or often times, both!).

Your 2011-2012 peer ministers are:
Jordan Anderson - Worship design
Josh Bartels - Hospitality and involvement
Kate Brown - Missions co-leader
Andrew Lutz - Missions co-leader
Julie DeRuiter - Prayer team
Kaitlyn Conrad - Drama ministry
