Open hearts, open minds, open doors
About Us The Wesley Foundation is a campus ministry at Eastern Illinois University with open hearts, open minds, and open doors seeking to help college-aged young adults experience the living God known through Jesus Christ. We do this through worship, prayer, community, and service. And most importantly, we are a group that committed to being open to all God's people. Our official mission statement is:
The Wesley Foundation at EIU connects students to the love of God known through the life of Jesus Christ. We strive to offer a spiritual home, provide opportunities for personal growth and spiritual formation, serve Christ by serving others, work for peace with justice, develop Christian leaders and provide outreach through missions.
![]() Hey! I am Paige Roberts, the campus minister. I love working with college-aged young adults, and I love EIU! I am originally from the Chicago suburbs, and I have lived in central Illinois since 1999. I was also down in this area for my undergrad (I'll let you try to guess the years!) when I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I received a degree in business administration. I intentionally spent a few years in the working world before pursuing my Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston.
I am an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church and have served as campus minister here since November 2004. I have two awesome children, Myles and Cameron.
It was in college that a campus minister helped me identify my call to ministry. Not all of us are called to church ministry, but I believe that God has placed a call on all our hearts to pursue our passions. One of the great things about being in college ministry is working with young adults as they discover God's call on their lives. It is truly a blessing to be a part of that process.
Part of the work of the Wesley Foundation includes building up leaders for God's kingdom. We do that through our Peer Ministry Program. Peer ministers take leadership in certain areas of the ministry.
Our peer ministers (student leaders) for the 2011-2012 school year are:
Jordan Anderson
Josh Bartels
Kate Brown
Andrew Lutz
Kaitlyn Conrad
Julie DeRuiter
Josh Smith is our worship leader.
The Wesley Foundation at EIU was started in the 1950s and officially incorporated in 1959. We celebrated our 50th Anniversary in September 2009.
